A Better Bag Bill

To update Washington's bag bill to ban more single-use bags

In the ten year effort to ban single-use plastic bags, a lot of negotiations took place, and compromises were made. One of those compromises was that plastic bags had to be 'reusable,' which per the law meant they had to be at least 2.5 mm thick. Unfortunately, from an environmental standpoint, these thicker bags are even worse, as they take longer to break down and are a bigger hazard to wildlife than the thinner bags. This campaign is an effort to close that loophole and ban these thicker single-use bags and ensure that Washingtonians are using reusable or compostable bags when they shop.
